Employee Spotlight: Veena Mahalingam on Culture, Connection, and Growth at bpExperts
Veena Mahalingam, Manager and co-lead of the Enterprise Management Competence Center, shares how she builds connection in a remote-first team, what excites her about SAP and BPM project work, and why bpExperts' open culture lets people contribute far beyond their job title.
Why Culture Matters: A Spotlight on Veena Mahalingam
"There is no limit to what you can do or where you can contribute."
This week we sat down with Veena Mahalingam, a Manager at bpExperts who has spent the past three years helping grow our Enterprise Management Competence Center. After moving from India to Germany, Veena found that bpExperts' multicultural, remote-first environment made it much easier to balance her career with family life.
What is one lesson from your job that helps you every day?
Veena's biggest takeaway is that connection doesn't happen automatically when a team is remote — it has to be planned. Deliberately scheduling a short coffee chat or a brainstorming session may seem like a small thing, but it's often what keeps a team aligned and work moving forward.
What excites you most about your role?
For Veena, it's the variety. Her projects range from digital transformations to complex SAP and BPM implementations, each bringing different stakeholders and business problems to solve. She's also been supporting the team in exploring how AI can make their work faster and smarter — meaning no two projects, and no two Mondays, look the same.
How would you describe bpExperts' work culture?
Veena describes it as welcoming, multicultural, and respectful of life outside work. Being remote-first hasn't created distance — frequent quick catchups and virtual coffees keep the team close. And work-life balance isn't just a talking point; it's built into how the team actually operates day to day.
What do you love most about working here?
The open culture stands out most to Veena: there's no ceiling on what you can do or where you can contribute. Unlike more traditional roles that confine you to a single department, team members can volunteer for sales, marketing, or organizing team events — a chance to showcase expertise and gain visibility across the whole firm.
Thank you, Veena, for sharing your story — and for everything you bring to the bpExperts team!
